REVIEW: ANANTARA KIHAVAH MALDIVES VILLAS

Anantara Kihavah offers tranquility with boundless horizons.

If you decide to jet off to the Maldives then you're going for one reason–to relax.

The villas at Anantara Kihavah are a pure, luxurious retreat away from the 'real world.' The minute you land on the Baa Atoll island you will enter a paradise of crystal clear water, majestic coral reefs, and a resort poised to offer you the experience of a lifetime.

The resort offers either private pool villas built over the sea with sweeping views of the ocean or along the spotless private beach. If you're lucky enough to have a choice then I suggest you go with the over water villas. These villas are your personal haven over the Indian Ocean. Throughout your stay you can catch sighting of turtles, sting rays, and more fish than you can count. You can glide down your private staircase directly into the Indian Ocean where you will be able to experience the best snorkelling available to man.

Each room is decorated with colorful island influences and structured to let plenty of natural light inside. A highlight is the bathtub because the bottom part is clear so that you can see the fishes and water below. You will fall in love with your extravagant bed with the finest linens and a pillow of your choice. That's right. The resort offers a pillow menu so that you can pick your own personalised pillow. All rooms have complimentary high speed wifi, satellite TV, and espresso and tea making facilities.

Tired of the leisure life? The resort offers a range of outdoors activities that take place in the gorgeous backdrop of the Maldives. Play volleyball on the beach or head on over to their tennis courts. You can get your sweat on in their fitness center which features a range of free weights, treadmills, and cable machines.

Want to kick back and explore the other islands of the Maldives? Then book a private boat with the resort that will take you around all the other islands. With the boat you'll be able to take in the lush surroundings and the sheer majesty of all the islands that comprise the Maldives. During my trip I was able to enjoy one of the purest sunsets of my life.

One of the best experiences at Anantara was the ability to take cooking classes with their chefs. They have chefs from all around the world who whip up the best worldly cuisines. One of my friends took a Thai cooking class while I tried my hand at making Mexican cuisine. The classes were laid back and done in the actual kitchens of the restaurants. At the end of the course they hand you a certificate and a cookbook with all the instructions so you can cook the food when you return home. Tons of fun!

The dining in Anantara is a class of its own. Head on over to Fire for some Japanese cuisine, Sky offers international tapas style dining, Plates offers Maldivian cuisine, Manzaru offers Mediterranean cuisine, Salt offers Asian cuisine, and Sea offers gourmet dining. Sea is the most popular restaurant as it's completely submerged underwater giving guests the feeling of being in the middle of a giant aquarium. Each restaurant offered a dining experience that was perfect. The food was superb and the staff highly attentive. We sometimes even had a visit from the chef who asked us about our meal.

The beaches of the Maldives will leave you spoiled. I had never seen such a perfect beach in my life and will never again until I return. The softness and purity of the sand was mind boggling. The water is the clearest I'd ever seen. Pristine even. The water is a sublime temperature so you won't have to worry about stepping into freezing water. Simply the best beaches in the world.

For the ultimate luxury in the most luxurious place ever then head on over to the Anantara Spa. The resort has six private over water treatment suites that are divine. I had the Anantara Signature Massage which left me in a state of bliss. The massage featured a blend of oils combined with movements and pressures to stimulate circulation and promote deep relaxation. I was beyond relaxed. I reached nirvana.

With an accommodating staff, delicious gourmet cuisines, and stunning villas Anantara Kihavah is a resort like no other. During your entire stay you will wonder how such a place even exists. My stay already feels like it only happened in my dreams.
