Originally back in 2014, Marvel announced that the Inhumans would be getting the silver screen treatment. But, the film was dropped from their film slate and instead became a horrendous ABC show in 2017. If you haven't seen it don't worry - it's god awful!

It was such a sad day because the Inhumans have such intricates storylines and some amazing characters like Black Bolt, Medusa, and Crytal. But the minute it became an ABC TV show I knew it would bomb. There is no way this show could be done properly and showcase the superpowers of the Inhumans with a TV show budget.

I mean - look at how ridiculously lame Medusa hair looks!

There's a reason why they shaved her head in the TV series. They knew they didn't have the budget to pull it off correctly or realistically. Back in 2016, Kevin Feige said that the Inhumans could certainly be a part of the discussion regarding the film ideas for 2020 and 2021 within the MCU.

Currently, there are rumors that Marvel is planning on rebooting the Inhumans within the MCU. So let's see how this could play out with what Marvel already have planned for Phase 4 and 5!

The Eternals

The Eternals is due to come out in November 2020 as part of Phase 4. This will be our first glimpse into the Eternals and we can assume we'll get a look into how they came to be.

In the comics, the Eternals were created by the Celestials who we've already seen in the MCU. But the Eternals weren't the only thing the Celestials toyed with throughout their vast lives. They created multiple branches of humanity. In particular, the expansion of the human potential in the form of the X-gene. In other words...

Now, could one of the other branches of humans they played with eventually become the Inhumans? Either way, this could be the foundation of mutants and Inhumans in the MCU and explain why they were eventually able to develop superhuman abilities.

Or perhaps they only set up mutants in which case we have to look further down the line into Phase 5 of the MCU.

Captain Marvel II

In Captain Marvel, we got introduced to the Kree. The Kree had Carol believing that they bestowed her powers. Of course, we found out that was a lie. But, guess who the Kree did bestow powers to...

... the Inhumans!

The Kree did experiments on early humans in hopes of creating a superpowered army to help in their fight against the Skrulls. The result of their experimentation was the Inhumans.

The sequel to Captain Marvel is slated to be in Phase 5 of the MCU which will be sometime after 2021. In this film, we can see how the Kree can enhance the abilities of individuals and get a glimpse into the Inhumans.

The Kree War seems to be playing a factor in the Captain Marvel franchise so it would make sense that we continue learning of the Kree. Which moves me to my next point.

Ms. Marvel

Marvel announced that one of their Disney+ shows will be Ms. Marvel. The show will debut possibly sometime in 2022 and will focus on Kamala Khan. The important thing to remember is that Kamala is an Inhuman.

In theory, sometime before Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ Marvel will have had to establish the Inhumans in some way so that audiences know what's going on. Having the Captain Marvel franchise explore more of the Kree involvement in creating the Inhumans would provide a reason to have Carol and Kamala connected within the MCU. It would make sense to have this happen so that we can have a logical reason for Kamala to idolize Carol as she's the reason she chooses the codename Ms. Marvel.

Also, it sets up the foundation to explore where Inhumans came from and when they start to pop up within the MCU we wouldn’t need too much of a backstory to set them up.

Speaking of popping up! I wouldn’t put it past Marvel to perhaps throw in some of the Royal Family of the Inhumans such as Black Bolt, Medusa, or Crytal in the Ms. Marvel series as sort of a backdoor lead-in into their film franchise.

So unless Marvel is planning to recon Kamala as a mutant then I’m pretty sure the Inhumans will be coming sooner rather than later in the MCU!
