Listen to The Geeky Gentleman Podcast Season 2 Episode 1: Top 6 Mobile Games For Geeks & Vitamin C Serum Benefits here!

Gone are the days where we could only play visually stunning games on our huge game consoles. Now, mobile games are taking over and reaching new heights of story-telling and visuals which has never been seen before. With app stores fully loads with a large plethora of games to choose from I’m listing the top six mobile games that every geek should be playing!

Don't worry, all the games below are available on iOS and Android devices. Or are they?!

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp

You don’t need a Nintendo Switch to get obsessed with Animal Crossing.

Download this social simulation mobile game and you’ll be in the thick of it! In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp you set up your own little campsite with decorations from daily tasks and annual events.

But it doesn’t stop with campsites. Want to set up a theme park or a music festival? You can do it! With plenty of seasonal events and decorating to do this game will fill up any free time you have.

Marvel Future Fight

This game has sucked up so much of my life. Marvel Future Fight is an RPG and dungeon crawler type game with your favorite Marvel heroes. When the game first came out it had your original iconic Avenger characters such as Captain America and Black Widow and lesser-known heroes and villains like Daredevil and Kingpin. But in the recent years, they’ve added the X-Men and Fantastic Four.

Personally, I came back to the game when they added the X-Men because I had to have Jean Grey! Who is one of the best characters in the game.

The game has both PVE (player vs environment) and PVP (player vs player) aspects so it’s definitely a must-have if you’re a huge sucker for Marvel.

In-game, you use energy, which is refilled in real-time, to complete missions and farm materials needed to upgrade your characters. Heroes and villains are categorized by types such as blast, speed, combat, or universal. Depending on the type certain characters have an advantage over others.

When you start the game it may be hard to complete all the game modes but that’s to be expected. New players are rewarded with top tier characters when they first join the game to help elevate this.

The game had a huge surge when game updates were modeled after each Marvel Studio film release. New characters were added like Shuri and Mysterio. MCU uniforms for your main heroes upgraded existing characters with their abilities from the film.

I still get a such an epic sense of satisfaction as I see Iron Man perform the Endgame snap with the Infinity Stones as one of his moves. Although the game is free be ready to cough up some money if you’re wanting to get premium characters such as Odin and Dormammu and if you want to progress quicker in the game.

Disney’s Sorcerer's Arena

Calling all Disney Fans! This turn-based battling game with your favorite Disney and Pixar characters will have you collecting cards to unlock new characters to use in battle.

Get Ariel, wielding her father’s trident, or other favorite classic characters to battle through a series of AI or human opponents and unlock even more characters.

The game features PVE and real-time PVP game modes. The ability to collect popular Disney heroes and villains will have you playing for hours on end. Whether you want to grab Buzz Lightyear or Maleficent you’ll be having loads of fun with this game.

It gets very addicting and does require a strategy when choosing characters and using their special abilities.

Think Pokémon meets Disney.

If you haven’t played Fortnite then you might have to wait a while before you can download it. Currently, this game is off both Apple and Google app stores because it’s literally that popular.

Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite, is currently in a legal battle because of the way the revenue streams work with the game on the app stores. Only players who have it downloaded already on their devices can play it. But it's such a good game it had to make it on the list.

Following your standard battle royale gameplay players are dropped into various lands where they have to go all Hunger Games-y by collecting weapons and building materials throughout the land. The main goal is to be the last man standing or team standing as you eliminate all the other players.

The game is broken up into seasons with a loose narrative. During each season, the land changes and players have the opportunity to get special skins and weapons that are exclusive for a limited time.

The game has grown to such popularity that it host sponsored events for popular films such as Avengers: Infinity War & Endgame, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Stranger Things, and Star Wars to name a few.

From the brains that brought you World of Warcraft comes this collectable card game. Hearsthone is a turn-based card game between two players. Each player has a deck of 30 cards with a selected hero such as Jaina or Anduin who each have their own unique power.

Players use mana crystals to use abilities or summon minions to attack their opponent with the goal of destroying the opponent’s hero. Winning matches and completing quests earns in-game gold and other rewards such as more powerful cards.

The game features several game modes such as casual or rank matches and arena battles. Players can use a setup deck within the game or through microtransactions customize and greatly improve their decks.

Pokémon Masters EX

Of course, we had to have a Pokémon game on this list. I enjoy this game much more than Pokémon Go because it has more of a narrative. But it depends on what kind of game you enjoy playing.

Set in the artificial island of Pasio, players battle and recruit various popular Pokémon trainers from the main series. Each trainer forms a sync pair with their respective Pokémon.

The Pokémon associated with the trainer is usually taken from the original story such as Misty with Starmie.

Each sync pair has one of three roles: strike, support, or increasing stats. The story follows a tournament where players main goal is to become its champion.

Players must collect five badges by defeating the Pokémon Master League Leaders located throughout Pasio.

In the game, you are able to recruit more sync pairs by playing through the main story, by scouting on the online store, or completely certain timed events.
